So that we won't forget: pictures and stories of our musical holiday in Zeerijp.
Erna building her set

  Impressive,huh?
Simon's setup

The day of arrival, Thursday, July 10, we immediately sat down to play.
Soundcheck

Chatting by the window. Spanish omelet of eggs, pasta with mushrooms, salad with avocado, tiramisu. A lot!
Visitors Vic and Marlies

The wealth, to find fresh eggs every morning! First, feed the chickens and then open the chicken-house: are there eggs again?

Towards the light

Plenty of beautiful days. This picture we made during a stroll. That horizon ... everywhere you looked, there it was, and always so soft.

Harvesting lavender, my hands, the table, everything smelled like lavender.
Harvesting Lavender

One of the daily pleasures. Coffee with cinnamon, cocoa and milk warm-up on it.

Well...

  Characteristic pose of Simon.
Making music

Alternately, we rehearse existing numbers, or we improvise. Just what we feel like. After a few days we have recorded hours of music. We sometimes lie on the sofa on the balcony and listen to music. Music of Sigur Ros, Daniel Lanois.
Our set-up

Atrociously difficult but interesting instrument, the Theremin ... There are two antennas. The left hand antenna is responsible for the volume. The right antenna determines the pitch. Real masters stand dead silent, move their little finger now and bring the listener to tears. The sound and atmosphere are similar to a singing saw.

Some years ago I was looking for an instrument that would enable me to influence pitch and volume steplessly. I bought the Theremin. Sometime later that year I realized that I already had such an instrument: my voice.

We cycled in the afternoons. When the rain stopped, the air was full of sunshine and warmth. In the village Garsthuizen, we photographed an old and abandoned church. But it won't be abandoned for long, because villagers are competing for a price, so they can rebuild the church and use it for concerts, theatre etcetera.

We went to the exhibition of Henk Helmantel in Westeremden. What a beautiful area it is. Simon took this picture in the Church of Westeremden.

Henk and Marietje lived in our house during our vacation. Henk was playing the piano in the small chuch during their visit.

Salmon, shrimp, salad with avocado, French bread and chanterelles soup . Red wine. And fun, and candles on. Walking in the flowing rain and briefly singing and playing in the church.

Erna's favorite hobby: winning!

Cycling to Loppersum, coming from Stedum.

The garden

Sophietje is two and half and had a real good time! After an hour she says to Simon: "I will stay here with you." When leaving (they are taking her with them anyway) she tells them what she wants to have at home: the trampoline, the chickens, the couch in the garden and the plastic 'wipkip'.

Day of farewell. I learned that with warm weather new blackberries are ripe every to hours. Petting the cats for the last time.
